| 02/02/2010 | Cracking Work! | |
Happy Creative is proud to have cracking mates like Fylde Coast YMCA. The Lancashire based group asked Happy Creative to design and print their Christmas campaign, allowing members of the YMCA to bring their mates along to the gym for free.
This promotion offers members the opportunity to invite their mates to any YMCA centre for a FREE day session. In return, the member is entered into a free prize draw to win prizes galore- great news for all!
Happy designed and printed a range of materials including a direct mail piece in the shape of a cracker. This innovative design allowed members and their friends to tear the material in half, mimicking a real cracker. What better way to get in the Christmas spirit!
Happy really enjoyed working with YMCA, bringing Christmas spirit to all in the Fylde Coast.

Happy New Year!
We hope you all enjoyed the Christmas holiday and managed to keep safe and warm during the recent cold and snowy spell!
Well, it seems that our little Happy puzzle book kept you all entertained and even perplexed in some cases….yes, including some of the Happy Team (you know who you are!) but hopefully it provided a little respite from the manic month that is December.
As you may remember, the aim of the game was to solve 6 puzzles, revealing a single letter for each puzzle. These letters then made up a word which linked into an item on the Happy website.
The correct answer was: MOTION and this linked in to Workers in Motion; a campaign identity that we created for Blackpool Council, one of our super clients.
We had so much fun creating the puzzles and had a fantastic response to the competition, so thank you and hope you weren’t too frustrated, especially by the candy canes!!
The winners were the very clever boys and girls at Cumbria & Lancashire Public Health Network so jolly well done to them! A well- deserved surprise treat is on its way to them.
Thanks once again for all your entries and all our very best wishes to you all!

| 01/09/2009 | Tower2Tower Charity Bike Ride | |
Happy Creative are thrilled and proud to be sponsoring three Fylde Coast YMCA employees who are taking part in the Tower 2 Tower Bike Ride Challenge which takes place on Sunday 23rd August.
|

Mike Vernon, Wyre Leisure Director, Paul Reeves, Active Workforce Manager and Graham Oatridge, “Y” Active Programme Manager, are all geared up to cycle approximately 450 miles from Paris to Blackpool in 6 days, in order to raise money for Rock FM and Magic 999’s “Cash for Kids”.
Mike, whose reported training regime has largely involved cycling the longest way to and from work with a laptop and bucketful of pasta on his back, thinks the mental challenge is nothing compared to having 2 children under 6 and a teenager living at home!
Paul, originally from South Africa, plays rugby and hopes to use the whole experience to alter his physique in order to change position from tight head prop to centre. Paul has commented that he will find it an almighty challenge to have to bear witness to Graham in his tight lycra shorts for a whole 6 days!
Graham, who, it appears, is the driving force behind the team, is incredibly enthusiastic about the whole project. His alleged training regime has involved many hours poring over assorted men’s health and fitness magazines and testing suspect grooming products! Graham believes that the extra pints of beer consumed as part of their strict dietary regime will be the main factor in reaching the finish line in good form!
We caught up with Mike, Paul and Graham on a sunny Tuesday afternoon and were suitably impressed with how super fit, energised and enthusiastic they all were. They are great fun and we are sure their sense of humour and wit will stand them in great stead.
We wish them the very best of luck as they embark on their incredible challenge, a safe journey to all of them!

| 14/07/2009 | How do you eat your ice cream? | |
You may not know it, but the way you consume your favourite ice cream speaks volumes about your character. Loosely based on the science of ‘tasteology’, the way you eat your ice cream can be very, very revealing …..
Sharer
If you love nothing better than sharing your ice cream, then you tend to be sociable and drawn to groups of people. Your natural charm makes you a great manager. You rely on the relationships around you. Sharers are constantly on the phone and on the move, they create their success by spotting connections. Sharers are successful as chameleons. Their attitude, demeanor and approach in a situation will depend on the person sat at the other side of the table.
Chomper
If you munch your ice cream so quickly that the only evidence is left around your mouth, then you love being part of the action. You are dynamic and stand out in a crowd. You are energized, dynamic and great at getting things started. Getting things finished can be a challenge however! You are a master of energizing a team by giving them confidence they need to succeed. High spirited, cheerful and idealist describe you well.
Slurper
If you eat the base of the cone first and slurp the rest, then you are chilled, friendly and have great ideas. Your easy going nature means you always keep your cool. Slurpers are generally well connected, tranquil and spiritual, they focus on the why behind everything. Steady and dependable, Slurpers have a calming effect on those around them and people who need a friend seek them out.
Blinger
If you like your ice creams blinged to the max with everything on – sprinkles, flakes, sauce and nuts, then you like the new and modern. Your outgoing personality means that people talk about you. You are highly creative, and never stop thinking of ideas. Your greatest creative breakthroughs often come after most others have given up. Blingers love the limelight and are totally at ease thinking on their feet. Your personal magnetism is your greatest asset.
Licker
If you take small delicate licks to eat your ice cream, then you are self-disciplined, conscientious and totally reliable. Lickers are orderly, systems oriented and have a good eye for detail. You are strong at completing. You are a perfectionist and can’t resist finding ways to do things better. You love nothing more than detail, and you are renowned for your thrift. Lickers are patient and diligent.
Dripper
If you find yourself constantly mopping up the drips, then you are unique, thoughtful and intellectual. You are compassionate and a great team player. Drippers rarely act upon impulse. You ensure that everything is in order and what needs to get done is done on time. Great at bargaining, drippers love nothing better than striking a good deal. You radiate warmth and inspire those around you.
Topper
If you start at the top and work your way down then you are passionate, outgoing, great at networking and meeting new people. You believe that life must be lived the fullest. You are vivacious, extroverted and comedic. You are articulate and comfortable speaking at all levels. Toppers are confident and capable and see themselves as high-flyers.
Each team has a wonderful mix of these ice cream personalities, which is what makes a team so successful. Who’s the creative, the implementer, the financer, the planner, the system maker in your team? We’d love to know what type you are, email us and let us know. We love working with all types of personalities.
Let’s make it a happy summer!
........................................
Here’s an insight into Happy’s …
Karen – Mr Whippy ice cream – yum, yum, with flake, raspberry sauce, sprinkles, nuts, yep I love the lot … Definitely a Blinger. Any more Blingers out there? Please tell me I’m not alone!!
James – Double scoops, two flakes, hundreds and thousands and it's all mine. Eaten very quickly so that I generally get an ice cream headache. I'm a combination of Chomper and Blinger so that kinda makes me a chombling.... or greedy!
Emma – I am definitely a Topper- I always start at the top of my ice-cream- even if there is a flake, it has to be eaten first! Yum! The only trouble I have is with a Cornetto- the chocolate at the bottom all comes at once! eeek! The best place to eat my ice-cream is the top of Blackpool Tower!
Debbie – Vanilla with raspberry sauce or plain strawberry ice cream for me, lush!…..Not bothered about a flake. I love to lick slowly and frequently but also am happy to swap flavours with a loved one. I guess that makes me a Happy, Licky Sharer…..or a Happy Sharing Licker?
Ant – I can’t resist a Calippo-proper holding on to that summer vibe!! because they're double tangy refreshing and well nice! The best part is when it goes to slush… so I guess that makes me a slurper!
Tom – I like to eat my ice-cream differently- the ice-cream is the best part…why not try to save it til last? That makes me a slurper! Sounds like one chilled creative team to me!
Kathryn - Oh, it has got to be lovely, soft whipped ice cream for me with chocolate sauce and plenty of nuts.....gorgeous! I like to start at the top, working my way round and round to catch the drips. I don't like the cone to get soggy!!!I think I'm a bit of a Topper and a Blinger....A Top-Blinger perhaps!!

| 23/09/2008 | Pat on the Back | |
It's a Pat on the Back from Blackburn with Darwen’s Strategic Partnership.
Happy is thrilled to welcome their newest client Blackburn with Darwen’s Local Strategic Partnership (LSP). The LSP helps to improve the local economy, build stronger and safer communities, improve educational achievement and improve health and well-being in the area.
Based on these main objectives, Happy presented the LSP with a range of innovative ideas to name and design a campaign for the awards programme that the LSP will be running. The awards programme intends to reward members of Blackburn with Darwen Strategic Partnership employees; rewarding those stars that literally deserve a pat on the back.
Happy presented the ‘Pat on the Back’ concept. The bright coloured, striking imagery won the hearts of the LSP. Happy are delighted to be working with the LSP, particularly on such a good cause.
Happy’s Creative Director, James Chantler said “we wanted to create a unique approach to recognising and congratulating the stars who work in the public sector. We’re delighted with the response from the LSP, and can’t wait to see the awards in action.”
Other than the marketing concept, Happy has helped the LSP with ideas for the awards themselves.
The LSP values the outstanding performance and dedication shown by individuals and groups working in the Blackburn with Darwen area. In celebration of this work, the LSP aims to reward teams and individuals that deserve thanks for their work.
Happy is thrilled to see the campaign up in action so quickly.
Check back soon for more Happy news!
